Maria H. Sjogren, MD, MPH

Maria H. Sjogren, MD, MPH, is Chief, Department of Clinical Investigation at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She also serves as Associate Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine and Associate Professor of Preventive Medicine at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr. Sjogren received her medical degree from the University of San Marcos in Lima, Peru. She completed her internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Yale University Affiliated Programs in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She also completed a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at St. Vincent’s Medical Center and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology/Hepatology at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.

Dr. Sjogren is currently a member of the following societies: the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American Gastroenterological Association, and is a Fellow, American College of Physicians.

Dr. Sjogren is currently a reviewer for the American Journal of Gastroenterology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Digestive Diseases and Science, Military Medicine, and Annals of Internal Medicine. She also serves on the following committees: the Ethics Committee for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases; Reviewer Abstracts, Viral Hepatitis category for the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and others.

Dr. Sjogren has published numerous articles, abstracts, and book chapters on viral hepatitis and liver disease.
